This website is intended to inform members of the public of the perceived risks involved when local authorities only collect general household waste once every two weeks.
An increasing number of councils in the UK have introduced or plan to introduce alternate week waste collections. General refuse will be collected one week and recycling materials the next. In plain terms general refuse will be collected only 26 times a year.
We support kerbside recycling but not at the expense of a reduced frequency in general waste collection. We believe our climate demands a weekly collection - in summer months residents are having to endure unpleasant odours from their bin contents, besides discovery of maggots amongst the waste. It is believed that the length of time between collections is also attracting rats and mice to our properties.
This website seeks to inform those with concerns and give up to date information on public health issues associated with these schemes.
